CareersRESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERRequired to perform with minimum supervision, research & development of new products and processes relating to the areas of deep-water buoyancy products for the offshore oil and natural gas industry and thermal insulation materials for subsea oil and natural gas production systems from wellhead to platform. Approximately 70% of the time will involve hands-on lab work and project support, with 10% travel to customers and suppliers, and the remaining 20% for report generation and general administrative matters. The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or related discipline. In addition, the candidate should have a strong academic background in related sciences and/or experience with independent laboratory research. In terms of skills, the candidate should have experience with the formulation and processing of thermosetting resin systems along with the use of mechanical and thermal testing equipment (e.g. hydrostatic pressure testing, thermal conductivity, thermal analysis, etc.). Knowledge of appropriate statistical methods and techniques are needed to effectively analyze, monitor and report various data results (e.g. SPC, DOE, QFD).
